The Jelly Beanz Experience
With an established reputation for incredible haircuts and colouring and outstanding customer service, Jelly Beanz has been a fixture in Whitstable’s trendy High Street for nearly 20 years.
Our friendly and lively salon is always full of regular customers, but we also get very excited when we give our new clients their first taste of the full Jelly Beanz experience.
Meet the Team
Jelly Beanz is extremely proud of the outstanding and dedicated people that make up our salon family, from our trainees to our most senior staff.
Here’s some background on each team member, so you can get to know a bit more about us, and what makes the Jelly Beanz crew so special.
With a career in hairdressing spanning over thirty years, Salon Director Grant’s extensive knowledge and expertise are at the forefront of Jelly Beanz.
His hair journey first started in gents barbering back in 1988. After several very enjoyable years as a barber, Grant decided to expand his skills to specialise in women’s colouring and styling. He became a master stylist and colour specialist with advanced level training at both Vidal Sassoon and Wella.
Alongside launching Jelly Beanz in 2002, Grant has been pivotal in launching several successful hair and beauty ventures across the UK and continues to share his knowledge in the art of hairstyling and business skills for both his employees and colleagues within the industry.
Grant’s innovative work is often inspired by his creative interests and hobbies such as photography, art and architecture.
Salon Manager Laura joined us in 2021, bringing with her nearly twenty years of experience as a makeup artist, beauty specialist and educator.
Laura has worked for major fashion brands on haute couture and pret-a-porter catwalk shows in London and Paris for brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Amanda Wakely.
Her work has taken her worldwide from the Cannes Film Festival, the International Makeup Event in Mexico City and regular visits to Moscow for the International Makeup Association (IMA).
Career highlights have included published work in Vogue Italia, the feature film ‘Coco Avant Chanel’ starring Audrey Tatou and QVC guest presenter for Bella Pierre cosmetics.
In 2014 Laura was the founder of The Central School of Makeup in Birmingham after previously holding the title of Head of Makeup Artistry for the UK’s largest beauty training centre The London School of Beauty and Makeup.
Senior Stylist Ellie started her career at a leading salon in Canterbury before joining the team at Jelly Beanz and working her way up to Senior Stylist. Ellie specialises in L’Oréal new colour trends and techniques such as balayage and French glossing.
Her love of long hair styling with big bouncy blow dries means she’s super on-trend with Instagram influencer-worthy hair!
After completing her Level 2 in Hairdressing this year and qualifying as a hairstylist, our full-time graduate stylist Eva is advancing her skills with an NVQ Level 3 qualification alongside working full-time in-salon.
As well as styling hair, Eva has embarked on training as our in-house Lola Cosmetics Makeup Specialist offering clients professional makeup services for bridal and special occasions.
Learning From the Best
With a strong focus on education and personal development, we are always looking to improve and refine our skills, so our team of creative colourists and stylists regularly enrol on the most exclusive training programs to gain new qualifications and expertise.
We train with some of the top names in the industry, such as Vidal Sassoon and Trevor Sorbie. We also pride ourselves on our extensive and continuous in-house training program, where our apprentices and juniors are given intensive instruction and on-the-job training by our senior team.
We are proudly affiliated with L’Oréal and have gained official Salon Partner status. Clients can enjoy L’Oréal colour and styling products as part of each service and can also purchase professional-quality styling and treatment products to maintain styles at home between salon visits.
